Juice
Composed by Alan Ashimine (2000)
The dictionary defines the term "juice" as "Sap, the fluid in fruits, etc." However, in contemporary slang, the term "juice" is analogous with "respect". For example, after seeing Yoshikazu Fujimoto of Kodo play the odaiko, it can be said, "Man, Yoshikazu gets ALL the juice." As the name implies, respect is the central theme of the song. However, the emphasis is not receiving respect but rather on giving it. Through the song’s interactive, individual and reflective elements, we learn to respect on another, ourselves and most importantly, the art of taiko itself.
